An Interview With Giant Squid CrypticFragments

CF Lensmaster CrypticFragments, aka Tammy, has been a member of Squidoo since February 18 2007. Tammy is an fantastic artist who likes to promote regional art gift products, ethnic handicrafts. One of her most popular lenses is The Squidoo Zazzle Gallery which promotes Squidoo lensmasters who use Zazzle! You can also check out her own very cool art on Tam's Tees...A Zazzle Gallery. So stop on by and say "Hi " to Tammy and check out all her artistic lenses!

What are 5 character traits of a Giant Squid?
Perseverance, good humor, curiosity, intelligence and creativity.

How has Squidoo helped you as an artist?
Squidoo has forced me to learn new techniques of marketing, which is definitely helpful to any struggling artist.

What do you enjoy doing besides art?
When not creating, I enjoy feeding my brain visual inspiration from other artists.
I am also passionate about traveling and exploring other cultures, which is one reason I am heading back to college after 22 years to pursue a degree in Anthropology and Ancient History!
I recently created the Mission to Morocco fund raiser to help pay for an overseas volunteer program in women's empowerment, an important issue to me as a former domestic violence "victim". Links: http://www.squidoo.com/MissiontoMorocco and http://www.squidoo.com/CandlesforaCause.

What's your favorite Squidoo Module?
I tend to stick with the same group of modules...text/write, Wikipedia, Amazon, ebay and the Link List. Not sure I can really name a favorite. I would like to explore new ones, but haven't figured out the best way to use them in the kind of lenses I write.

What's some advice you'd like to give to a new lensmaster?
Don't give up! Squidoo can be intimidating to a newbie with no knowledge of computers and the Internet. However, if you keep at it, and ask a lot of questions, you can get somewhere with this!  Network with your peers. Explore what good and bad lenses are out there. Did I say don't give up?!

Important Tip!

CM Allow people to contact you...It's easy to change your Contact settings in your profile to allow people to e-mail you. From your Dashboard click on the "My Profile" tab and scroll down to "Account Settings". Under "Allow Contact?" click "Change"...it's a toggle, be sure to set it to "On" to allow contact. Having your Contact setting ON is great because it allows people to ask you a question, compliment your lens or even invite you to apply for Giant Squid Status!

Of course we also understand your need for privacy...so if you'd like to keep your "Contact Me" button on off that's A OK with us too!

69 Days And Counting!

H I was at the grocery store today and the Halloween Candy has officially hit the shelves. It seems like it just gets earlier and earlier every year. As much as I'd like summer to last a little bit longer there's no denying that Halloween is only 69 days away!

So what does that mean for you? Grab a bag of Candy Corn, dust off your Halloween Costume and get inspired to make some SquidBoo! lenses. Halloween lenses are not only popular but profitable too. Halloween is a Billion dollar industry and people love to decorate and dress up.

Need some more ideas? Check out some of these lenses on my Halloween Fun Group, scope out ebay auctions for some ideas, create a SquidZipper about the best Haunted Houses in your neighborhood, do a lens about your favorite Halloween candy, recipe or beverage. The ideas are endless!

Remember, these lenses count towards your 50 quality lenses that you need to make Giant Squid status on September 30th.

Try SquidBids for eBay Sellers

SBSquidBids is an awesome tool from Squdioo for ebay sellers. SquidBids allows sellers to create custom lenses to promote their eBay auctions and stores. This is such an exciting new tool for eBay sellers. The following is an excerpt from my lens SquidBids for eBay Sellers. Check it out for even more helpful SquidBids Tips!

Why SquidBids Is So Awesome!

I have learned that a good eBay store needs good exposure and marketing. Being "One in a Million" might be good if you're a super model but on eBay you'll just get lost in the crowd. So what's the answer? SquidBids. I truly believe that SquidBids is going to revolutionize eBay marketing.

SquidBids gives you the power to market your eBay auctions and store with a lens that you build. Simply by entering your eBay ID you can create a customizable lens in minutes. Add modules for photos, polls, links, and of course your eBay items to market your goods.

SquidBids Tips

  • Enter your eBay ID exactly as it appears. SquidBids is case-sensitive.
  • Add photographs to your SquidBids lens. Show off what you have with a picture. Use the the Flickr or Text Modules for adding photos.
  • Create multiple SquidBids. Try to be specific in what you sell like Sock Monkey's, Lampwork Beads or Baby Clothes. Make a lens for each catagory. You can then create a regular Squidoo lens or group and feature all of your SquidBids in one place for even more exposure.
  • Give buyers a reason to buy from "you". Let them know that your items come from a smoke-free home, are shipped the next day or are packed with extra special care.
  • Show off your good feedback rating.
  • Let your customer's add testimonials using a Text List Plexo or have them rate you with a Poll.
  • Sell eBay How-To books and products that compliment your eBay auction using the Amazon Module. For example if your sell Wilton Cake Pans on eBay set up an Amazon Module to sell other Wilton products. If you sell baby clothes set up an Amazon Module for crib bedding.
  • Show off your goods with a YouTube Video Module. Just think how effect a marketing tool it would be to have a video of the car, motorcycle or house that you are selling on eBay?
  • Offer your eBay store customers weekly incentives like free shipping, holiday specials or clearance merchandise. You can update your SquidBids lenses daily so encourage people to bookmark you for future savings events. This is a really great way to create a following for your store. When I ran my bead store my repeat customers were the most loyal.
  • Always add a guestbook so that people can leave you comments.
