Lensmaster Barkely says that Gardening With Chemicals Damages Our Earth and It's Creatures and I agree. I hate using any sort of chemicals on my lawn or garden.  Using chemicals harms both people and animals! What to you think?

Should Ohio Build a $2.5 Billion Coal-Fired Plant?

Construction is scheduled to being next year on a $2.5 Billion Coal-Fired plant in Meigs County by American Municipal Power-Ohio.

According to MSNBC, "Those who want power from the new plant must build it and agree to use its power for 50 years. Those wanting out have until March 1 to do so."

I feel very strongly that building a Coal-Fired plant and requiring communities to commit to 50 years of power is ridiculous.

Right now coal is a poor choice for power, in 50 years it will have destroyed our environment completely! We need to be looking at renewable energy sources like solar, wind and nuclear.

Global warming is inevitable

This debate run by boredofeducation is a bit depressing but well worth checking out. I myself believe that we cannot escape global warming. There is proof that we are already being affected and we should all be aware of what causes global warming and how it can be slowed down. I am not sure that it can be stopped. What do you think? Is global warming for real or just some scientific hoax?

Paper or Plastic?

Here's another debate about what to take our groceries home from the store in. Lensmaster Loyalis has posed a unique twist to the Paper or Plastic debate! Kill the fish (plastic) or the trees (paper). Now I myself would prefer to not kill anything but it seems highly unrealistic to cart my groceries home without any sort of bag at all.

So our choices are reusable bags which are nice but often times are forgotten on the way on the door, nasty plastic or difficult to carry paper. I say what if the corporate bag manufacturers came up with a nice bag (with handles) that was made from a recycled material and was biodegradable so that we could all feel less guilty about using the alternatives. Anyone?

Plastic Bags Should Be Banned In All Stores

Lensmaster EverythingMouse wants you to start using reusable bags and I agree. She says:

"Somewhere between 500 billion and a trillion plastic bags are consumed worldwide each year. At the supermarket check out you are given a choice - paper or plastic? The answer should be 'Neither thank you I have my own reusable grocery bag!"

Wow that is a really scary figure. My thought is that stores need to start offering alternatives to plastic. Maybe giving shoppers low cost reusable bags with their store logo. People are so used to plastic that they don't even question what they are handed. Also many stores don't offer a choice...especially clothing and Big Box stores. Do you think that plastic bags should be banned?
