I was reading the SquidU Review Blog today and I got INSPIRED. According to Kimberly Dawn Wells:
Lensmasters donated nearly $10,000 to the Squidoo Charity Fund in December. Hooray for the power of many people with a similar goal!
Tens of thousands more dollars were donated to specific charities. The top 5 charities getting the most direct donations were: #1 Room to Read, #2 Save the Children, #3 ASPCA, #4 Acumen Fund and #5 Donors Choose.
WOW...that's a lot of money!
I'm always telling people that if I won the lottery I would start my own philanthropic organization. That's like saying, "When I get older I'll learn how to play the piano or write a book". Duh!...for the past year I have had the opportunity with Squidoo I just needed a good conk on the head to realize it.
Now what if everyone on Squidoo built one new lens per month for a specific charity? That would add up to a lot of dough. Now I know many, many, many, many of the Lensmasters on Squidoo already give to charity which is amazing. I just thought that it would be fun to have a Monthly Charity Lens Drive to get even more people to give! So.............

How does bdkz's Squidoo Charity Challenge work?
Each month I'll create a new lens called bdkz's Squidoo Charity Challenge for April 2008, etc. To participate just "Convert A Lens" to give 100% of the royalties to the current charity of the month.
Does the lens need to be about the charity of the month?
No, although it can be, any lens (provided that it is G rated and appropriate) can be submitted. The whole purpose is to raise money for charity. So include your best shopping and money making lenses too!
How do I submit a lens?
On the 1st of every month I'll post a new lens featuring the charity of the month. Included in the lens will be a "Links Plexo". Add your lens to the Plexo, then be sure to vote for your favorites.
Can I create a new lens?
Yes, you are more then welcome to create a new lens for the charity of the month.
Will you feature my lens?
Yes, During the course of the month I'll pick a few lenses and feature them on this blog. Then at the end of month I'll feature the Top 5 Lenses on Squidoo Tips From A Giant Squid in Tip #7 Giving Is Good, My Favorite Charity Lenses AND on this blog!
What about the stats?
I love statistics so at the end of the month I'll announce the total number of lenses created, it will be fun to see how many we can get.
What else do I get?
Aside from the satisfaction of knowing that you gave to charity I'm also working on a badge for the Top 5 to proudly display on their lens!
Can I suggest a charity?
Yes, if you would like to suggest a charity for the uncoming month e-mail me your suggestions and why you think your charity should be featured.

This month's featured charity is the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
You can create any kind of lens about any subject (G rated appropriate lenses please). The only criteria is that you have to donate 100% of the funds to the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation. Just change your Payment Option Settings on your lens.
Get creative! Create a lens about how AIDS has affected your community or country. Create a lens about women or children and dedicate it to Elizabeth Glaser. Review a movie or a book. Create a SquidWho about someone who has been affected by AIDS. Sell shoes. Talk about your trip to Italy. The possibilities are endless! Here's my contribution! Add A Little RED To Your Kitchen!
Remember the goal is to create as many lenses as we can! At the end of the month I'll announce how many we created!
