I Think That Uncle Sam And K-Mart Are In Cahoots!

I just read today that Sears is going offer Bonus for Stimulus Checks if you convert your Economic Stimulus Check into a Sears or K-Mart Card you get a whopping 10% Bonus. Whew Hoo! Bring on the Blue Light Special!

Of course there is a catch. You have to turn over your ENTIRE check to Sears/K-Mart in order to get that bonus cash. So unless you are buying a major appliance this is about the crappiest deal on the planet. Sears is just the first of the "Stimulus Bargains" I'm sure. Pretty soon we'll be seeing other companies jump on the band wagon. They'll be offering free windows, cat trees, oil changes, toilet paper...you name it. Anything to lure innocent American's into giving up their booty is fair game.

So watch out K-mart...you're not getting my check...I already have it earmarked for 500 Free Tokens at Chuck E. Cheese!

Double Coupons Are Back At Giant Eagle

Giant Eagle is bringing back the Double Coupon Program thanks in part to the grass roots efforts of BringBackDoubles.com. The cynic in me thought that the days of double couponing at Giant Eagle were gone for good. I am very pleased that Giant Eagle listened to its customers and public opinion. Ending the program would have created a financial hardship for those people that rely on the extra dollars that are saved by doubling coupons. Kudos to Giant Eagle for listening!

Geauga Lake = Development...But Of What?

A couple of days ago I blogged about the closing of Geauga Lake Amusement Park in Greater Cleveland. It's being turned into a water park. Well my husband and I began talking and came to the realization that there is no way that Cedar Fair is going to utilize the entire area for a water park. You see the current water park sits on what used to be Sea World and Geauga Lake is across the lake on another parcel of land. I seriously doubt that they are going to turn this half into another extension of the water park which means that when the rides are torn down the land is going to be used for...what? I went to the Cedar Fair website and found this:

As part of the changeover to exclusively water park attractions, a number of the rides at Geauga Lake will be introduced at other Cedar Fair parks.

The property not necessary for the operation of the water park is being reviewed for other uses and development.

Other uses. Hmmm...I wonder what this could mean. Can anyone say housing development? I am beginning to think that the land that Geauga Lake sits on is worth more to Cedar Fair then the park itself. Now this is just speculation on my part but I am truly sad about these developments. Another part of Americana bites the dust!

If you would like to contact Cedar Fair and express your concerns here is the Contact Information.

Mattel Apologizes To China...HELLO!

Mattel apologizes to China over recalls is the latest headline in the lead painted toy debacle. It's bad enough that Mattel was not monitoring the factories in China and allowed lead paint in their toys, but now an apology? What's wrong with this scenario? If I own a widget factory and I allow my neighbor to produce my widgets and my neighbor uses a toxic substance to paint my widgets we are both in the wrong. I am surely not going to publicly apologize to my neighbor for poisoning my widgets. That is the stupidest thing I have ever heard!

Yet Mattel has apologized. Why? For the all mighty dollar. Is it that difficult to produce toys that are Made in the USA? Have we strayed so far off the mark in our society that we must produce everything we own in China because it's cheap? Apologizing to China for poisoning our children is absurd. Yes Mattel is responsible for not monitoring the situation, but it was China's lax regulations that allowed lead into the paint in the first place. They are both equally to blame. How sad that we have come to this point, that politics mean more than people.

Sad News For Local Cleveland Amusement Park

Geauga_lake I just logged into NewsNet5 this morning to find out that they are closing Geauga Lake Park and turning it into just a water park. Now for those of you in the Greater Cleveland Area you will remember that Geauga Lake was once a really cool amusement park that was located across the lake from Sea World. Sea World closed a while ago and Six Flags bought Geauga Lake. Well that bombed and Cedar Point acquired the park and it went back to the Geauga Lake name.

I am truly disappointed about these turn of events. Like we need another water park with all them located in Sandusky. Geauga Lake used to be a really great family park that had a charm that Cedar Point lacked.  I guess it's just progress. Nearby Conneaut Lake Park also closed last year and is trying to reopen. I guess our kids will never get to experience what it's like to see a REAL amusement park. Very sad.I hope that Kennywood in PA stays open!

Why You Shoud Consider Joining a Nudist Colony...

Apparently your clothes are making you sick. According to Dr. Mao dry cleaning is the worst culprit, and he suggests that you should air your clothes out for 24 hours before wearing them. HELLO! As if there are not enough dangers lurking in this world we now have to worry about what we wear. I guess our only hope is to join a nudist colony!
