Do I need a donut maker?

I'm thinking "No". However JCPenny seems to disagree. They have this nifty one here (see photo to the right) for a mere $129.99. It's even on sale. Save $170 off the original price. WOW, $170, that's a lot of donuts! It's called the Dough-Nu-Matic, now that's a cool name.

Ok, back to me...do I really need a donut maker? Probably not, I only eat about 3 donuts per year and they are usually the Dunkin' variety. But this is tempting. I'm kind of a kitchen gadget whore. I've got a Cuisinart Mixer, Quesadilla Maker, Snow Cone Machine, Toaster Oven, Toaster, Magic Bullet and a bunch more I'm too embarrassed to list.

So getting the donut maker would not be totally out of the realm of possibility for me...my husband likes to buy me cool gifts (fish tank, sock monkey kit, rock tumbler) I'm hard to buy for so I guess I could hit him up. The other problem is I'm not sure where I'd put this behemoth of a gadget. It's big because "A mechanical lever pushes the donut through the oil and flips it for perfect browning". Makes sense doesn't it! Maybe I could put it next to the Snow Cone Machine.

Anyway if your looking for an interesting gift for someone (me) who has quirky tastes in kitchen gear consider a gift that keeps on giving tasty treats throughout the entire year...or not.

I'm An Organizational Wizard

I just got what is one of the coolest kitchen organizational gadgets I have ever seen. The Zevro Dry Food Dispenser!

I was at BJ's yesterday and saw these super cool dispenser's on clearance for $13 each. Needless to say I scooped up 9 of them and now my kitchen rivals Martha Stewart's.

I've got a cereal section (see photo), a dry goods section for rice and nuts AND I've got snack section for fishy crackers, M & M's and chocolate covered raisins. These are perfect if you have kids and a husband who forgets to close the top of the cereal box! I'd actually like a few more for bird seed and cat food, of course we'd have to keep those far away from the people food. I'd hate to see anyone put bird seed on their ice cream cone!

For Summer Outdoor Cooking!

Get out your BBQ Tools and slap a big fat juicy steak on the grill! Summertime is all about grilling good food. I prefer Charcoal Grills because I like the way the food cooks and the smell of the charcoal. I know that gas burns cleaner and you can control the heat better, but I still like charcoal.

Charcoal grills remind me of cooking out in the 1970's when all you had was a cheap round grill, a pile of cheap charcoal and a pack of cheap hot dogs! Oh and don't forget the cheap lighter fluid, a must for any griller. Am I sensing a theme here?

Anyway I'll get of my nostalgia kick and just say that I think that the new charcoal grills are much better so you might want to try one! What do you think?

Anyone Want Some Candy Corn From My Basement?

In the spirit of Halloween I had a craving for Brach's Candy Corn so I scooted on over to the local Giant Eagle (who by the way has ended their Double Coupon Program) and got myself the 11 oz. bag. As I was stuffing my face I started reading the bag and found out this astounding fact:

HELLO! Are we so far gone now in the good old US of A that we can't even produce something as simple as Candy Corn. The ingredients are nothing more then sugar, corn syrup, salt, honey, gelatin and a bunch or artificial crap. I probably have that in my cupboard. Maybe I should start making Candy Corn in my basement. Anyone up for a bag?
