I Got A Nephrolepis exaltata!
Otherwise know as a Boston Fern! Actually I got 2 of them from the Evil Sam's Club yesterday. Yes I am now regularly shopping at Sam's Club again. They beat me down but as a plus the Fern's only cost $9.99 each so I think I'm on the winning end this time!
My Fern's are residing my the computer room this week because the evening temperatures here in Cleveland are below 50 degrees and the little tag says that I'm "NEVER supposed to let them get exposed to temps under 50"!
Now I just have to learn a little bit more about their care so I don't have 2 dead Nephrolepis exaltata!
Congratulations on obtaining a rich and beautiful specimen. A lot of folks think Boston Ferns don't need to be in a sunny window, but they do need some direct light. A north window is ideal because of the leaner candlepower. A west window that is heavily eaved in afternoon can work well, too. Try not to touch the fronds. I recall they frequently turned brown when bumped or touched. Mist during the day, but never at night. They do better when their leaves are dry after dark. Beeeauuuutiful! I had a couple Boston Ferns a few years ago, they did great through the summer but died in the fall when I had to bring them in the house. I even gave them showers and misted them to keep the humidity up, but they just didn't love me anymore:(
