I'm a little bored and burned out today. I can't seem to think of a good Squidoo lens to make and I am drawing a blank artistically so I decided to head to the mall. Now I don't go to the mall that often and I made some interesting observations while I was there.
First of all there are way too many clothes in the world. Our mall has 2, yes 2 Dillard's Department Stores. One for men and one for women. I was in the men's store to find some work clothes for my husband. Let's just say that I felt like I was drowning in a gabardine aquarium. There must have been over 100 different pairs of pants to choose from. HELLO! I can't handle that many choices. I started to get dizzy so I left with few pairs of shorts that I got for $4.50 each. Not bad but I still have a headache.
My second observation is that Christmas now starts in September. I seem to remember when I was young that Christmas came after Thanksgiving but I don't think that's the case anymore. I was at Macy's and the heavily perfumed sales people were festooning the place with Harry & David Holiday Chocolates and Christmas Trees. The unfortunate part was that they had these big boxes everywhere so that you had to basically squeeze through the store like a mole in a tunnel. I did get a jacket for my husband for $4.50 so that made up for the hassle I guess.
By this time I was sick of the mall so I got a taco from the food court and headed home. I think I go back in December when it's Valentine's Day.
Giant Eagle is bringing back the Double Coupon Program thanks in part to the grass roots efforts of BringBackDoubles.com. The cynic in me thought that the days of double couponing at Giant Eagle were gone for good. I am very pleased that Giant Eagle listened to its customers and public opinion. Ending the program would have created a financial hardship for those people that rely on the extra dollars that are saved by doubling coupons. Kudos to Giant Eagle for listening!
With Halloween approaching I decided to create a Squidoo Lens for Mildly Offensive Halloween Costumes. Apparently these costumes are RAELLY popular because I have gotten 505 hits on this lens in the past 7 days. So go ahead dress up as a pregant nun, hillbilly bride or a giant outhouse for Halloween this year. You won't be alone!
Well the public has spoken. The Barry Bonds 756th home run ball will be shipped off to Cooperstown with a big fat asterick. I voted to bannish that puppy into space but we can't always get what we want. Apparently the people at Cooperstown are quite pleased to have the ball regardless of the marking. Chalk one up to a publicity stunt that really worked!
