Geauga Lake = Development...But Of What?
A couple of days ago I blogged about the closing of Geauga Lake Amusement Park in Greater Cleveland. It's being turned into a water park. Well my husband and I began talking and came to the realization that there is no way that Cedar Fair is going to utilize the entire area for a water park. You see the current water park sits on what used to be Sea World and Geauga Lake is across the lake on another parcel of land. I seriously doubt that they are going to turn this half into another extension of the water park which means that when the rides are torn down the land is going to be used for...what? I went to the Cedar Fair website and found this:
As part of the changeover to exclusively water park attractions, a number of the rides at Geauga Lake will be introduced at other Cedar Fair parks.
The property not necessary for the operation of the water park is being reviewed for other uses and development.
Other uses. Hmmm...I wonder what this could mean. Can anyone say housing development? I am beginning to think that the land that Geauga Lake sits on is worth more to Cedar Fair then the park itself. Now this is just speculation on my part but I am truly sad about these developments. Another part of Americana bites the dust!
