Owen Wilson Dissed My Bronco
My husband came home yesterday and said that Owen Wilson dissed his Bronco. Apparently Wilson said that it was old, smelled bad and that the 1978 Ford Bronco sucked. The incident happened at our local Auto Zone. Well at least I think that the guy's name was Owen Wilson. As my husband tells the story there were 2 guys in a Corvette parked next to him and one of them yelled out the window that he hated the old Ford Bronco. His buddy then said, "Hey Owen, take it easy on the guy, at least the thing is running". Owen then said, "shut up Wilson" and they drove away. Hence the opening statement "Owen Wilson Dissed My Bronco".
Now that I heard the story I was wishing that I has spent the last five minutes vacuuming as the story was kind of boring. However I got lured in by the tag line. Now despite the fact that I know that Owen Wilson was recently in the news for having attempted suicide and was most likely still in the hospital the story peeked my interest. Perhaps Owen Wilson was really in Ohio, fully recovered and relaxing at the local Auto Zone (hey it could happen). Or maybe the suicide attempt was a farce. Maybe Owen Wilson really needed a vacation and just used the suicide attempt as his get-away story. Or maybe...OK, enough of the or maybes.
The bottom line is that I was lured by the sensation (or in this case my husband's stupid story). I wanted to believe that Owen Wilson really was at the local Auto Zone so I listened. I wanted to be part of the media sensation. I wanted to be part of a news worthy story. Why did you read this entry? Was it because you liked the Ford Bronco? Or was it because you saw the name Owen Wilson and wanted more? I'll bet it was the latter. Now I am not trying to downplay the seriousness of when happened to Mr. Wilson, I'm just trying to make a point. Have we become so desperate in our society for celebrity news that we'll jump on any morsel like a rabid monkey? I hope not, but I am afraid that I'm right.
In today's society of instant news we know immediately when Britney sneezes or when Lindsay farts or when Owen Wilson tries to commit suicide. On behalf of Owen Wilson it might be better if we didn't know what happened. If we believed that he backed out of his latest movie deal because he was in Ohio at the local Auto Zone dissing a Ford Bronco and not locked up in the hospital under observation. Sometimes fanstasy is better then reality.
